Turkey is considered a high-risk location for terror attacks. Some of the most targeted attack locations have been in Istanbul and Ankara. There have also been incidents in other major cities as well. Some of the targets have been public gatherings, government offices, security forces, and also civilians. Western interests and foreigners, particularly in the major Turkish cities have also been targeted. Despite this Turkish security forces have been able to minimize terror attacks due to the tightening of security protocols. Numerous extremist groups are operating in Turkey.
